Welcome to Datum

Rizonesoft merged with Datum, South Africa. Datum will continue to develop all freeware acquired from Rizonesoft and will even bring back other discontinued stuff. We need to re-brand, update and optimize everything, so if you could please be patient while we finish these tasks. Everything should be available for download again by 19 May 2012, Saturday.

Welcome to the official home of Datum. Datum is an IT service orientated company specializing in services like Data Forensics, Data Recovery, PC Support, Server Support, Backup Solutions, Security Solutions and general SEO services. Datum was established out of necessity due to a lack of professionalism in most IT companies.

The void in the IT industry for professional services became clear from the moment the concept of Datum was conceived. Services like Data Forensics, Data Recovery, Password Recovery and Server Management are almost no-existent in the majestic Garden Route of South Africa.

Datum is based in Mossel Bay, South Africa and our goal is to bring back professionalism to the IT industry. Together, the founders of Datum, Danie Botha and Derick Payne have over 20 years of experience in the IT Industry and has worked offering the services mentioned above.

Derick is also the founder of Rizonesoft with experience in programming, data forensics, PC support, backup solutions, virus removal, security solutions, graphical designing, sound engineering, website design and online marketing.

Danie brings to Datum expertise like data forensics, data recovery, PC support, networking, server support, server management and server solutions.

When moving your business to the internet, it is hard enough finding a competent developer to create and brand your online presence. Then again, how do you know that the contents and graphics of your new company website is not stolen. It will shock you to know how many websites contain stolen content and graphics not to mention the templates and code used. We normally do not have the time to check our websites for plagiarism and copyright infringement issues and why should we?

Well, you should unless you would like to deal with a costly lawsuit. It is not only immoral, but illegal to use graphics and content you do not own the copyrights to. However, finding somebody with the expertise to thoroughly investigate your copyright issues can be just as costly as the lawsuit. The result is that most of us just leave it and hope nobody notices.

Datum fights Plagiarism

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is no laughing matter, especially when you’ve spend hours writing that perfect article or even days creating contents for your website only to find that somebody copied your work.  Keeping it honest is not only hard, but can be an expensive exercise.

Here at Datum we take pride in the fact that our contents are unique and we do not violate the rights of honest working bloggers. We write all our contents ourselves and buy the rights to all the images we use on our site. Note: Just because we have the right to use these images does not mean our users have the right, but that makes for another interesting article.

Some bloggers have the idea that because contents (articles) are freely available on the internet, it is free and they can use it anywhere and everywhere they like. What you need to understand is that the moment something is published on paper or digitally (on the internet), it will be copyrighted automatically under the name of the publisher, unless otherwise specified. The contents will always remain the property of the publisher until it is officially transferred to another person or business, normally in writing.

Never let anybody tell you that it is alright to copy one or more sentences from another article. This is not only illegal but is the most common form of plagiarism. I’ve seen hundreds of Frankenstein articles created using the method of combining several copied (stolen) sentences. Stop the madness and start being a little more creative. The lack of creativity is destroying our generation!
